Anyone out there interested in setting up a partnership to rent a facility with a hoist and compressor? Hands on Garage has gone bust, I have projects to do but no place to put a hoist and too old to crawl under cars anymore. I figure total monthly cost of about $1000, split 5-15 ways. ewalbergh@aol.com

Been trying to convince my own car club to do this. No one shows interest. I would really think this is a good idea. West Allis Car Club has a facility where they do the work on their own cars I believe.

I think a big factor in this is going to be insurance. A group of amateur mechanics with tools is not a favorable thing in the eyes of the insurance underwriters.

I believe that if everyone was a co-owner, then it would not be much different than putting a hoist and compressor in your own garage. Not sure, but would be willing to explore the insurance angle if there was enough interest.

Leases of property go by square footage. I see one place in West Allis (an old used car lot) with 1000 square feet going at $2.10 per sq ft...so 2100 a month. And that is on the low end. I've seen leases at 5 per sq ft.
